As promised, Belle and I went back to the Japanese restaurant from one of our previous posts. We rang them and asked specifically for a larger private room, telling them we would be a party of four.
The intention was that Belle would lie on the table and be the serving dish, as Samantha did in the Sex and the City movie. Apparently this is called Nyotaimori, which means 'female body presentation', or body-sushi - it's amazing what you can find out from Wikipedia's pages!
They did put us in a private room for four people but when we got there we saw the table was far too small. Not only that, but the panels between the rooms were lightly frosted glass, and there were large gaps that the people in the next room could see through. Seeing as there was going to be a lot of flashing not only from Belle, but from the camera as well, it would be too obvious that something was going on. Disappointingly it was going to be impossible!
Belle wasn't going to waste the opportunity though, showing all the skills with her chopsticks, and putting them to very good use. We improvised as best we could, and she finished by picking up a few choice morsels that she promised she would serve to me later.
Maybe we have to set up something at home for the body sushi, not as daring as in a restaurant, but at least we'd get a beautifully presented dish. In the meantime, feast on Belle!
